Update 27/11
I have been totally overwhelmed by the outpouring of warmth and support from the people who read and shared my post regarding the fires. As Facebook has yet to add an acknowledgement button I have liked them all to show that I've read them.
Thanks also to those who have got in touch privately. You are amazing.
It was a bad night as every sound made me jolt, thinking someone was knocking on the door to wake me up and tell me to run, I haven't had much sleep at all since Thursday - even for an insomniac. I'm not a superstitious person but I have just been to the Western Wall and spoken some words of gratitude. This too shall pass.
I have been given the email address of my host family and have been able to thank them and to offer to return the coat their daughter loaned me to cover my pyjamas as we evacuated. It may only be a coat but at some point she may appreciate something "from before". I've also found out that the family who drove us to safety still have their home which only received minor damage.
Many people have asked if there is a fundraising site for the people who have lost their homes. I am happy to share it via PM to anyone who wants it. There are many disaster relief funds but I have just been given a link for that specific community. I'm not posting it here as my Facebook account is both used for work and public, I don't want to inadvertently identify individual residents, affect any ongoing investigations/security issues or become involved in a political debate. I hope you understand.
